Month 1
The heart begins to beat, Body parts are mapped out, on Day 15 nerve cells begin to form, the egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. -
Month 2
Usually when the first ultrasound is taken, Face, eyes, ears, and limbs take shape, bones begin to form -
Month 3
Nostrils, mouth, lips, and eyelids form, all organs are present but premature, buds for teeth appear, fingers and toes almost complete. -
Month 4
Baby can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup and move, facial features become clearer, About 3 in. and 1 oz. -
Month 5
Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear, Organs are maturing, baby becomes more active. -
Month 6
Breathing movements begin, there are fat deposits under the skin but baby still appears wrinkled, baby sleeps 90% of the time. -
Month 7
Last organs to form are the lungs, brain begins to create memory. -
Month 8
Fetus may be able to recognize music, brain/head have grown as big as they will in the womb, Rapid weight gain, moves head into down position. -
Month 9
Fetus gains antibodies, movement decreases, descends into pelvis in preperation for birth.
