Emmancipation Proclamation

This Proclamation stated that all people being held as slaves in rebellious states would be free. The proclamation did not free every slave in the country, it only freed states that were not under union control. Changed the focus of the war from keeping the Union together to abolishing slavery. -
African Americans recieved into the Armed Service
After the time of the Emancipation Proclamation all the newly freed slaves wanted to join the army. Since the matter subject changed from keeping the Union together to abolishing slavery these slaves wanted to go fight for their own freedom. The Union was in desperate need for new men, when the slaves joined the Union army, the Union gained a big advantage because of their numbers. -
13th Amendment passed
The 13th amendment formally abolished slavery from the United States. The amendment states that no man should be a slave or involuntary servant, except in the case of crime and or punishment. -
Jim Crow Laws
Was being free a better life for former slaves? These laws were enacted after the Reconstruction are to about the mid 1960's in the southern states of the Unuted States. Segregation, are both really equal or are they just separated? -
Civil Rights Movement(1954-1968)
A movement where African Americans were fighting against segregation and discrimination. Famous people that came out of this movement were Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. -

"Grandmaster Flash," or his actual name Joseph Saddler is an American hip hop recording artist and DJ. Commonly known for working with the group Furious Five. First Dj to develop his own mixer named the "Flashformer."
