Establishment of the State of Israel
After WWII, the Jewish were given back Israel and it became a country again. This is when Egypt, Jordan, and Syria first became angry with them. They had the land prior to this. -
Arab-Israeli War
This was a war of independence for the Israelis from the Palestinians. They were able to keep Jerusalem. -
Suez Canal Nationalized
Egyptian President Nasser nationalizes the Suez Canal. -
Suez Crisis
Israeli, British, and France teamed together to fight against Egypt in order to obtain control of the Suez Canal. This fight was one of the many reasons that Israel and Egypt did not get along which ultimately led to the six day war. -
Israel attacked Syria
Israel attacked Syria's weapons (artilleries). They shot six of their fighter planes. Israeli planes were flying low. This caused Syria and Egypt to team up against Israel. -
Jordan & Egypt sign pact.
Jordan and Egypt sign mutual defense pact. Jordan and Egypt were prepared to plan an attack against Israel in order to get the Palestinian land back. -
Israel starts air attacks
Israel starts air attacks on Egypt in the morning. Later in the day, they start air attacks on Syria and Jordan. Syria, Jordan, and Iraq start to fire back. -
Syria strengthens their attacks
Syria strengthened their attacks and launched an artillery strike against Israeli civilian communities. They also sent two groups of soldiers across the border to attack Kibbutz Tel Dan. (land in Israel) -
Cease Fire
The United Nations suggested a cease fire. Egypt refused to back down. Israel contacts Jordan to cease fighting. Jordan does not respond. Israel and Syria continue to fight on the borders. -
Accepts the Cease Fire
Egypt accepts a cease-fire and Herbon falls on the Israeli Army. Also the fighting continues on the border of Golan. All egyptian forces were conquered, and Israel now controlled the Gaza Strip and the Sinai ro Suez Canal. -
Golan Heights
There was an attack that was ordered on the Golan Heights. -
Last Day of Fighting
Sixth day of fighting. Israel gains controls of the Golan Heights. -
Khartoum Resolutions
Eight Arab head of states made a resolution. They created a fund to assist Egypt and Jordan's economics. They didn't want peace with Israel and made no progress towards peace. -
Resolution 242
United Nations creates a peace treaty. -
Israel left the Gaza Strip
The Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement was still in the process of being made, as well as an agreement with Syria to return the Golan Heights.
