Miracinonyx also known as the american cheetah went extinct 12,000 years ago. This amazing creature lived within coastal savannas, open forests, Appalachian mountain stream valleys, and high mountain meadows. While it is estimated to weigh approximately 150 lb. With a body length of 5.6 ft and then a tail length of three feet. These statistics are extremely similar to current cheetahs.

Casteroides
They could grow to be up to 2.2 Meters long. There is no evidence of this "giant beaver" building dams. However there is evidence of the plants having less nutrients and nitrogen. Resulting in the beavers needing to eat more plants. This only worsens the quality even more. As this goes on eventually the ecosystem would collapse resulting in their extinction. -

Ground Sloth
While these sloths died out in North America ten thousand years ago I am including their actual extinction. Many ground sloths had migrated to the Cuban islands. These large beasts were herbivores much like sloths today however by the name they obviously did not climb trees. -

Mammoth: About 1.8 million years ago, the mammoth was able to take advantage of low sea levels and crossed through into North America on a temporary land bridge across the Bering Strait. While a fun fact is the existence of "dwarf mammoths" found on islands and generally from California's Channel Islands. These beasts only were four to six feet a the shoulder! -
