Great Lakes - 20 000 years ago – Cenozoic era
As the glaciers were melting from the last ice age there were 5 holes around what is now called Ontario that were soon filler with fresh water which we now call the 5 Great Lakes. -

Climate change - 10 000 years – 4000 years ago – Cenozoic era
The temperature was a lot like (warm) it is now causing many forest to bloom and new animal life to grow in these years. The temprature went high after the ice age but made its way back down and started to slowly rise again. -

Lowlands - 70 000 years ago – Cenozoic era
Due to erosion the bedrock under the lowlands formed sediments that layered up over the years but the layers of the upper layers compressed the lower layers into sedimentary rocks. -

Humans - 1 million – 2 million years ago – Cenozoic era
Around this time humans started to walk on this earth. It depends on what you consider as humans. -

Present Shape of Continents - 5 million years ago – Cenozoic era
The continents took their present shapes, Canada moved up north close to the Arctic. The continents move all the time but we just don’t notice, in fact in those 5 million years they moved a bit. -

Rocky Mountains - 60 million years ago – Cenozoic era
These mountains were formed when the North American plate collided with multiple plates that went under causing a ridge. -

Mammals - 65 million years ago – Cenozoic era
In the beginning of this era, mammals were created right after the dinosaur’s extinction. There were mammals in water and on land. -

Pangaea Drifting - 225 million years ago – Mesozoic era
The supercontinent started to break apart and soon took its current place after thousands of years. Canada moved up north slowly. There were two main continents called Laurasia and Gondwana. -

Intuition Mountains - 250 million years ago – Mesozoic era
These mountains were created when the northern plate moved closer to the arctic. These mountains are younger than the Appalachian mountains therefore not that eroded and contain all three types of rocks. It is too cold for trees and it like tundra that far up North. -

Pangaea - 250 million years ago – Paleozoic era
During this time this earths continents were all one big continent called the supercontinent. At this time Canada was close and/or on the equator meaning it was warm. -

Plants and Animals on land - 700 million years ago – Paleozoic era
During this time more algae like plants and small animals started to form. These plants then led to coniferous and deciduous trees and bigger animals. In Canada, we are really well known for our large forests and wildlife. -

Multicellular organisms 1200 million years ago – Precambrian era
The first multicellular organisms formed on earth. When this happened it helped develop animals and other living creature in the future. -
Appalachians Mountains - 480 million years ago - Paleozoic era
These rocks were formed when the North American plate collided with the multiple plates at the time that made the Appalachians but they soon started to erode away making what we call today the lowlands. -
Reptiles - 370 million years ago – Paleozoic era
This is the time when amphibians like reptiles roamed the earth. They were mostly in what we now call South Africa and South America. Many new amphibian creatures were created during this time. -
Ice Age - 1.8 million years – 10 000 years ago – Cenozoic era
This ice age lasted a very long time and covered most od Canada today. Glaciers caused the rocks to scrape and moved making multiple holes and dents into parts of Canada. -
Shallow Seas covering North America - 299 million years go - Paleozoic era
At the time, most of north America was covered by sea caused by glaciation. Since this happened the plants in the area covered did not decompose but turned into coal from the heat and pressure on it. -
The Rock Cycle - 3000 million years ago – Precambrian era
The magma started to cool down that appeared onto the earth’s surface and after millions of years, it formed the igneous rock and soon after that the metamorphic rock was formed due to the heat and pressure. -
Oxygen - 3500 million years ago – Precambrian era
During this time there was about 0.01% of oxygen on this earth but soon started to increase and now there is 20% of oxygen in the atmosphere. -
The Shields 3960 million years ago – Precambrian era
The shields started to form that are like the bedrock that just happen to be above the plate tectonics. The Canadian Shield covers most of Canada that helped create the other landforms of Canada. -
The Earths Beginning - 4600 million years ago - Precambrian Era
During this time the earth's core was forming into its shape after the sun was formed. The earth was just a big ball of magma and gas.
