Magna Carta Signed by King John
The Magna Carta was signed in 1215 by King John to try and make peace between the king and some barons. This charter is of crucial importance because it gave people certain rights and forced KIngs to follow the laws.

King Charles Dissolves Parliament
King Charles dissolved Parliament in 1625 in an effort to gain more power for the monarchy. Charles had disagreed with Parliament since the beginning of his rule, and felt that Parliament was lessening his powers as king.

Parliament has Charles I SIgn Petition of Rights
The Petition of Right was a document created by Parliament and sent to King Charles I in 1628. The document stated specific liberties that the king could not violate.

King Charles Reconvenes Parliament
Following a long period of Parliament being absent, KIng Charles I reconvened Parliament in order to gain funds to deal with a rebellion in Scotland.

English Civil War Begins
The English Civil War began on August 22nd, 1642 and continued until September 3rd, 1651. This war was fought between groups supporting the Parliament and groups supporting the monarchy, over who would control the government. The war led to the execution of Charles I, and the monarchy being replaced by the Commonwealth of England, and later the Protectorate.

Execution of Charles I
Charles I was executed on January 30th, 1649 following a court case that declared him guilty of treason. Many of his subjects were angry over his desire to possess a large amount of power, leading to a fair amount of support for his beheading.

Bill of RIghts Introduced by Parliament

The English Bill of RIghts was signed by Parliament on October 28th, 1689. The BIll of RIghts was introduced by Parliament and established a constiutional monarchy.
