  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    These acts directed the trade between England and the Colonies. Colonial merchants couldn't use foreign ships to ship goods to England. The outcome of these acts were that the merchants wanted to make their own manufactored goods and sell their products where they could get higher prices. The colonists also started smuggling. (only know the month)
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The act was passed to stop the westward expansion of the colonists and by doing that they would avoid fighting with native americans. The boundary was the Appalachian Mountains. The outcome of this act was the colonists became angry because they had already bought land west of the mountains and Britain ignored their land claims.
  • Suagr Act

    Suagr Act
    The Sugar Act was passed, it lowered the tax on imported molasses and also let officers seize goods from smugglers without going to court. This was passed to try to convince the colonists to pay the tax and stop smuggling. The colonists were angry and thought this act violated, or interfered with, their rights as an English citizen.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This was a tax placed on almost all printed material, including newspapers, wills and playing cards. All printed materials had to have a stamp, British officials applied the stamp after the tax was payed,
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The act stated that Parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for the British colonies "in all cases". The outcome was that the colonists wanted to be taxed from their own aseemblies.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Only taxed on imported goods such as glass and teawith the tax being paid at the port. Colonists organized boycotts. Colonists that were women made the Daughters of Liberty.(only know the month)
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This allowed the company to virtual monopoly, or sole control, of the tea in America. This act let the company sell tea straight to the shopkeepers and skip having to sell it to merchants. The outcome was that the colomists formed another boycott and vowed to stop british ships from unloading.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    These were to punish colonists, like it shutdown the Boston Harbor until the ruined tea was payed for and forbidded town meetings. Also this made Boston Colonists shelter soldiers. The outcome was colonists said it violated their rights such as no quartering of troops in private homes and no standing army in peacetime.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    THis act set up a government for Quebec and also gave the land west of the Appalachian Mountains and north of the Ohio River to Quebec. The outcome of this was the British ignored colonists land claims and this made them mad.
