Textile prices went up, Textile mills created one goal which was to grow cotton Lwowel became the first industriel city. There were many factories that housed young women that worked in the factory. The work conditions were very bad but they needed to make a profit for there families.

    The Mossouri Compromise
    In effort to maintain a balance of power in congress between slave states and free states. The Missouri Compromise was passed in 1820 admitting missouri as a slave state and maine as a free state. This prohibitted slavery in the Louisianna Terrritory north of the 36 degrees 30' latitude line.

    Many immigrants and young girls moved to the north of north america in search for work in factories. there was a lot of poverty and foreigners who couldn't read and write. African Americans were poor and forigners were in prison. Young girls came to Lowell to earn extra money for thier families. this was the start of america becomeing dependent on therseleves and becoming urbanlized

    The tarriff act was an law passed by the government to increase tarrifs on manufactured goods form Europe. The south hated the tarrifs because they had to give more money to the north , however the north loved it. the tarrif act created the most sectionalism in the United States.

    Once the south declared that they would not pay the Tariffs a civil war began between the state. The south attempted to break apart from the United States to create a new country. However they werent allowed to leave without a fight, the president had the power to enforce federal law with the military. the government then proposed the Nullification Act to lower tariffs and end war, southcarolina acepted.

This compromis was a potiential resolution to the unbalance of free and slave states. slave trade was abolished in Washignton D.C., fugitive slave act was amended, califorina was added as a free state, stettled the disput between texas and new mexico, and territorial goverment was created in utha as a result of the compromise.
