Nine poor, uneducated African American teenagers were accused of raping two white woman. -
Posse Interupts
Posse stops the train that the ladies and teenagers were on. The Afican American boys are arrested because of assult, and rape charges are added to all the nine boys. Victoria Price and Ruby Bates were the two ladies that were supposedly assulted by the Scottsboro boys. -
Nearly died
After being arrested they wanted to be hung by their necks or lynched, suggested by the people crowding around the Scottsboro jail. -
Trials begin
The scottsboro boys trial starts in north Alabama with Judge A. E. Hawkins. -
Punishments
Clarence Norris, Charlie Weems, Haywood Patterson, Olen Montgomery, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Eugene Williams, and Andy Wright eight of the nine boys were sentenced to death. Roy Wright was also sentenced to death but the prosecution asked for life imprisonment. -

Ruby Bates one of the ladies assulted on the train confessed that she was never raped. -

Haywood Patterson one of the Scottsboro boys is found guilty by the jury and was sent to be killed by the electric chair. -

The conviction of Haywood Patterson was set aside by Judge Horton and grants a new trial. -

Haywood Patterson and Clarence Norris two of the boys are both convicted, charged for rape and sentenced to death. Haywoods conviction was set aside but now he and one other are senteced to death. -

Haywood Patterson
On January 24 Haywood is convicted for a fourth time of rape and has to spend the next 75 years of his life in prison. Then on June 14 the conviction is upheld by the Alabama Supreme Court once again. -
Ozzie gets shot
Ozzie Powell gets shot by Sheriff Jay in the head beacause he attacked Deputy Sheriff Edgar Blalock. -
Last Scottsboro boy
The last Scottsboro boy, Clarence Norris dies at age 76 and marks the end of the Scottsboro boys.
