The Sea Organization (a.k.a. the Sea Org) was established. -
Royal Scotman
The first Advanced Organization, offering the advanced levels of Scientology to the public, was established on the Royal Scotman, (the flagship of the Sea Org.) This ship was eventually renamed to the Apollo. -

Hubbard dies after having a stroke at his ranch close to San Luis Obispo, California. -
Freedom Medal

Tax-exempt Again
After 40 years, the IRS decides that the Church of Scientology will remain tax-exempt.
