Albert Einstein: theory of special relativity,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2VMO7pcWhg
Here is a video of this image: The theory was originally termed "special" because it applied the principle of relativity only to the special case of inertial reference frames, i.e. frames of reference in uniform relative motion with respect to each other.[8] Einstein developed general relativity to apply the principle in the more general case, that is, to any frame so as to handle general coordinate transformations, and that theory includes the effects of gravity. -
Ernest Rutherford: Atomic nucleus
Consists of protons and neutrons. The atoms atomic number is assigned based off how many protons are present in its nucleus. -
Alfred Wegener proposes Continental drift
DRIFT His hypothesis was controversial and not widely accepted until the 1950s, when numerous discoveries such as palaeomagnetism provided strong support for continental drift, and thereby a substantial basis for today's model of Plate tectonics -
Georges Lemaître: Theory of the Big Bang
Proposed by Georges Lemaître. This theory is explained well in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDQzKTedGNE</a> -
Helical structure of DNA Discovered
Although Rosalin Franklin first discovered the structure of DNA, this monumental acheivement is accredited to James Watson and Francis Crick because they took Franklin's design idea and made an actual model and took the credit for it. But this discoverly is still one of the single most important discoveries in science, and is the basis for molecular biology. -
Kary Mullis invents the polymerase chain reaction
SEE how PCR works This was a key discovery in molecular biology. -
Roslin Institute: Dolly the sheep was cloned.
the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell, using the process of nuclear transfer. She was cloned by Ian Wilmut, Keith Campbell and colleagues at the Roslin Institute and the biotechnology company PPL Therapeutics near Edinburgh in Scotland. -
The first draft of the human genome is completed

Higgs Boson is discovered at CERN
