    Dr. Raymond V. Damadian gave the first full body scan of a human to detect tumors. He got the patent for the MRI scanner in 1974. In 1977 Dr. Damadian gave his assistant Larry Minkoff the first scan which was of the chest. The scan showed the heart, lungs, and vertebrae of Mr. Minkoff.
