Science Discovery Timeline - Xrays

  • Nikola Tesla's Discovery

In April 1887, Tesla wanted to see if he could discover something new. Nikola Tesla started to investigate known-to-be-called x-rays using his own single terminal vacuum tube. Tesla used shadowgraphs to support his research.
  • Wilhelm Conrad Röngten's Discovery

On November 8th 1895, Röngten was experimenting with different tubes similar to fluorescent bulbs. After using special gas, and an electric voltage he discovered a green colored fluorescent light. That light had been emitted from the tube. Consequently, he named the new ray X-ray. His first experiment was on his wife's hand.
  • The Announcement

In 1896, Tesla made the announcement that x-rays were finally created, but nobody had named it yet. People observed x-rays of a man, made by Tesla. Röngten appeared at the same time to announce the name of both Tesla and his discovery - the x-rays. He mentioned his experiments, and his observations.
  • Downsides of the X-rays

In 1897, Tesla was aware of the skin damages that Röngten later detected an affect of x-rays. He also found out it causes cancer.
  • Modern X-rays

We use x-rays to this day, because we use them to help people in the hospitals. This helps us to find if any part of the body is injured or broken. However, it is still known to cause cancer and other skin damages.
Better - Helps people in hospitals.
Worse - Causes cancer and skin damages
