    End of WWI . Germany lost and had to pay for the costs of the war and give back the land it took. This punishment made them very poor and bitter, eager to return their former glory.

    Hitler voted into power in Germany
    Hitler was chancellor under Hindenberg and he got that percent with 37 percent of the vote. It was the highest of all parties. After the burning of the Reichstag, Hitler claimed that Germany's enemies burnt it down. It's likely that he burnt it down itself. When Hindenberg died, Hitler asked for dictatorship in order to protect Germany and got voted in with 89.98 percent of the vote. He vowed to bring Germany back to it's former power, before it's loss in WWI.
