Sara and Mason's Love and Family Story

  • First meeting

    First meeting
Sara and I met on August 17, 2015. I was interviewing for a job and she was the Director of the nonprofit I was interviewing at. Long story short- I got the job but did not stay there for too long as we fell in love!
  • Boyfriend and Girlfriend

    Boyfriend and Girlfriend
I told Sara that I wasn't dating anyone else but we didn't need to define the relationship right now if it stressed her out. Her response was "Oh no I want to define it" and so I asked Sara to be my girlfriend and she said yes!
  • Marriage Proposal

    Marriage Proposal
I proposed to Sara at the Virginia Pride Festival. I made a video for her of pictures and videos of our relationship and had a friend play it for her while I pretended to be at the bathroom. I then came out when the video was almost over and got down on one knee in front of our friends and asked her to Marry me. I was very nervous and excited. That night we went to the State Fair to celebrate.
  • Homeowners

    Homeowners
We bought a house in the city and were excited to move out of the suburbs. It was also the first house I had ever bought and I was very nervous but grateful! There were so many trips to Lowes…
  • Wedding Day

    Wedding Day
Sara and I’s wedding was described by a friend as Disney Jesus themed. We had a candy bar and the party favor was each guest received a book that we had picked out for them individually and we wrote a message in. Sara and I’s first dance was to True Colors (the Justin Timberlake and Ana Kendrick version).
  • Honeymoon Cruise

    Honeymoon Cruise
For our honeymoon we went on a cruise to the Bahamas. I had been on cruises growing up but this was Sara’s first cruise. She was hooked and as of November 2022 we have been on five cruises together.

We found out we were pregnant with our first child. We were overjoyed when we found out she was pregnant.
  • Introducing our Daughter

    Introducing our Daughter
Elliott’s birth was very traumatic and complicated. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU and we were elated when we were able to take her home. 3 years later Elliott is thriving and we are forever grateful for the medical team that cared for her and Sara.
  • Sold and Bought New House

    Sold and Bought New House
Six months after having our first child it became apparent that our house layout was not working for us. Her bedroom was on the bottom floor and our bedroom was on the top floor. We decided to look for a bigger house in the suburbs of Henrico with the hopes of having another child and wanting more space.
Our house sold within 9 hours and we were really grateful that our contract was accepted on the house we wanted.
  • Baby Announcement- 2nd kid

    Baby Announcement- 2nd kid
We were overjoyed to find out Elliott was going to become a big sister.
  • Introducing our Son

    Introducing our Son
Sara's pregnancy with our son was complicated. We were grateful that she made it to 36 weeks and 4 days before he needed to be delivered due to her medical needs. Reece was born 2 years and 6 days after Elliott was born and has been doing great ever since.
  • Elliott meets Reece

    Elliott meets Reece
We were very excited to introduce Elliott to Reece. Her reaction did not disappoint.
  • Saying goodbye to our Dog

    Saying goodbye to our Dog
Toby was our beloved pitbull great dane mix. We found out he had cancer all over his body and he passed away right before Christmas last year.
  • Birthday celebration

    Birthday celebration
We celebrated Reece’s 1st Birthday and Elliott’s third birthday with a combined snow cone birthday party in our front yard. Complete with water balloons, a bounce house, and lots of family and friends.
