Scented gloves
In the 13th centuries, Italy, France and Spain competed in the glove industry. Scented gloves were made with jasmine oil, amber, cedar oil, orange blossom and rose, which were in fashion for a long time. -
Plastic gloves
In 1886 Dr. Halsted invented plastic gloves to protect the hands of Caroline Hampton (future wife) from disinfectants in the operating room that caused eczema on the skin. -

Currently, Dr. Halsted's gloves have evolved and are now made of latex to help provide greater comfort in the hands and facilitate dexterity when working with chemicals or industrial products.
