    Consititution of 1824
    The Constitutional government in Texas began with the Mexican federal Constitution of 1824, and this resembled the U.S. government.There was no particular effort to define the rights of the states and local affairs . So Stephen F. Austin conferred with the Mexican government who created the Constitution. Also, the Anglo Americans were not represented; and this was an important step for Mexico.However, the unstable government and poor leadership meant that this document was not enforced.
  • Fredonian Rebellion

    Fredonian Rebellion
    The Fredonian Rebellion was a dispute between the Mexican government and the Edward brothers;Haden and Benjamin.Haden received a grant to allow 800 families to settle. He was supposed to uphold land grants certified by Spanish and Mexican colonies.The Edwards forced settlers who could not prove owner ship mainly Spanish and Anglo settlers.The offended the older settlers, and Mexico canceled their contract.Edwards made an alliance and attempted to rally Anglo settlers, but failed

    In 1827 Mier y Teran lead to a scientific boundary expedition into Texas.There job as to observe the Indians natural resources and their attitudes.The Commission left Mexico City in November 1827.Mier y Terán was joined by scientist,artist, and cartographer. People getting sick and muddy roads started slowing down the Commission;and they stayed there until January 1829.On his report he said that strong measures should stop on Texas.His suggestions were incorporated into the Law of April 6, 1830.

    The Guerrero Decree stopped slavery throughout the Republic of Mexico was issued by Guerrero on September 15, 1829.It's not fully understood why he established this law, but we hoped that decree would be a check on American Immigration.Decree reached Texas on October 16,but the chief withheld his publication because it was a violation of the colonization laws.The news decree told did shock the Texans.On December 2 the Mexican Government told the governor of Texas that there's no change.

    The law of April of 1830 was made to stop the flood of immigration, which came to a warning of the Meir y Teran report. The law forbade introduction to slaves in Mexico, and to suspend empresarios contracts. Texas colonist were disturbed by the news by Stephen F. Austin. But Austin was able to convince the Mexican government.Enforcement of this law resulted directly in the Anahuac Disturbances of 1832and the accumulation of grievances
    that helped lead to the revolution.

    Juan Davis Bradburn came to the mouth of the Trinity River on
    Galveston Bay with orders to establish a town on October 26, 1830.His job was to help the collector of customs and prevent the entrance of immigrants from the United States.There were problems with captains refusing to pay tariffs,however the issue resulted when Anglo settlers William and Patrick were arrested.Settlers had a rescue force of 200 men the reach turtle bayou to help them. The matter was resolved when they arrived.

    On June 12, 1832, settlers opposed to the rule of Mexican commander John Davis Bradburn fled from Anahuac to the
    crossing on Turtle Bayou.The Texas rebels had just learned that an army had won.Taking the advantage the sided with the Federalist causing the turtle bayou resolutions. They explained there attack against Anahauc was not the Anglos but the Federalist.The four resolutions defeated the President.The Federalist general who came to investigate was convinced and didn't punish the settlers.

    On June 26, 1832 was the battle at Velasco, it was probably the first case of blooshed. Smith and Austin who were in charge of the Texans went to go retrieve a cannon.The settlers fought against the Mexicans.The Mexicans were forced to surrender because they ran out of ammunition.After they surrendered they boarded their ships.Upon returning to Anahuac, the settlers discovered that the
    prisoners had been released and Col. Bradburn had been removed from command.

    The Convention of 1832 was upon returning to Anahuac, the settlers discovered that the prisoners had been released and Col. Bradburn had been removed from command. Delagates elected Stephen F. Austin as president. The conventions adopted resolutions as modifications.For several reasons the modifications were never shown to the Mexican government.

    The Convention of 1833 was on April 1st, the day Santa Anna took over Mexico. Wharton presided the convention petitioning for repeal for anti immigration.Delegates also proposed to split Coahuila and Texas.Segin,Miller,and Austin were chosen to present to Mexico;but were unable to go.The Convention ended April 13.

    Stephen F. Austin Goes To Mexico City
    On January 3,1834 Stephen F. Austin went to Mexico City because he was going to ask permission to gain Independence. He also persuaded the government to repeal for the Law of 1830.He convinced at least that he had left nothing undone even though President Santa Anna simply would not approve state government for Texas. Also Austin was arrested and not allowed to leave.

    The Consultation
    The Consultation served as a provisional government, and the opinions being debated was the opposing factions that wanted to continue a diplomatic relations with Mexico; in San Felipe 1835. Many delegates weren't able to go because of the fighting between the Mexican forces.Three issues dominated Consultation:war,structure of government,and virtues of different leaders.On November 7 the Consultation established a provisional government upon the principles of the Constitution of 1824.
