The Decembrist Revolution
Small group of nobles and army officers tried to overthor the government. They hoped for constitinial Monarchy but Czar Nicholas 1 quickly crushed the uprising. -
Nicholas the ll becomes Czar of Russia
Nicholas the ll was coronated and became te Czar of Russia. Nicholas II ruled from 1 November 1894 until his forced abdication on 15 March 1917. -
The Russo-Japansese War
The war was a military conflict between Japan and Russia Japan made Russia abandon its expansionist policy in the Far East. Japan was the first Asian power to beat a European Power. The countries were fighting over Korea. -
Bloody Sunday
A young preist planned a peaceful protest. It was to petition for better pay and some political freedom. Soldiers fired at the peaceful protestors and killing over 100 marchers. -
World War 1 (Russian involvment)
Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia was an ally to Serbia and had signed previous treatys/agreements to aid Serbia when in need. -
Czar Nicholas ll abdicated Russian Throne
Petrograd joined striking workers in demanding socialist reforms, and therefore Nicholas was forced to abdicate the Russian Throne. -
The March Revolution
There were many riots and strikes in Petrogad. Troops were sent out to fight the protesters but the troops eventually agreed with the protesters. -
Russian Civil War Begins
Many groups had formed who opposed Lenin’s Bolsheviks. The groups included monarchists and militarists. They were known as the Whites while the Bolsheviks were known as the Reds. People finally wanted peace. -
Creation of the U.S.S.R
The U.S.S.R was The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. It was a communist state. It inculded Russia and 14 other countires. Eventually countries wanted to be independent from the U.S.S.R. -
Vladimir Lenin's Death
Vladimir Lenin was a Russian communist revolutionary, politician and political theorist. After his death their was a struggle for power in the Soviet Union between Stalin and Trotsky.
