As 200,000 people walked to czars winter palace in St. Petersburg demanding better working conditions. On the other hand Nicholas II was not at the palace nut instead ordered his police chiefs to open fire in the crowd killing between 500 and 1000 people who were unarmed. -
WW1
Nicholas II made a decision to bring russia into World War 1 even though they were unprepared to handle to military and economic costs. As 4 years passed more than 4 million russian soldiers had died. -
Lenin returns to russia
After the germans launched their own secret weapon to erode the provisional government's authority, they planned a return for lenin's return after many years of exile. -
New economic policy
Lenin launched a new NEP, peasants could sell crops instead of turning them over to the government. Although it let small factories and small businesses operate under private ownership. -
Political Reform
Lenin was using political reform to organize russia into several self governing republics under the central government. By the time 1922 came around the country was named USSR in honor of the councils that helped launch the bolsheviks revolution.
