Japan attacked Russia at Port Arthur. This was because they were competing for control of Korea and Manchurea. This caused violence. -
Bloody Sunday
20,00 workers and their families approached the Czars winter palace in St Petersburg demanding better working conditions. This "Bloody Sunday" was the revolution of 1905. 100,000 wounded and several 100 killed which provoked strikes and violence. -
Duma
The First Duma (Russias first parliament) met. The leaders of the Duma wanted Russia to become a consrirutional monarchy like Britian. Alrhough the Czar did not want this to occur. -
Start of the war for Russia
Nicholas II lead Russia into World War One. They werent prepared to handle the military and economic costs. This caused them to be defeated repeatedly by Germany. -
March Revolution
Women textile workers in Petrograd led a city-wide strike. Lots of other civilians later joined in. Soldiers were ordered to shoot them but later joined in the strike. -
Provisional Government Toppled
Factory workers in Petrograd took over government offices. These people were called "Red Guards". Kerensky and his colleagues fled and disappeared. -
Brest-Livestock
Russia and Germany signed Brest-Livestock treaty. They surrendured a large part of the territory to Germany and its allies. This triggered Germany's anger on the Russians. -
End of Civil War
Thr Russian Civil War ended. Several western nations sent military aid and forces to the east. This was to help the white army. -
Recovery
Lenin restored order in Russia. They then resort to new economic policy. This causes the country to slowly recover. -
Stalin
Lenin suffered from many strokes. The last one caused him to die. This caused Joseph Stalin to gain power.
