Revolution of 1905
The revolution of 1905 is known as Bloody Sunday. 2,000 workers approched the zar and demanded better working conditions. After soliders were order to fire on the crowd 1,000 plus were wounded and several 100 were killed. This event provoked strikes and voilence across the country. -
Life of the Duma
Russian's first parliment, Duma, met. The goal of Duma was to make Russia a constitutional monarchy like Britain. However, the zar did not want to share power and dissolved Duma. -
The Final Blow
Nicholas II lead Russia into World War 1. Russia was not prepared to handle economic and military costs causing them to be defeared by Germany multiple times. Before the year had ended more than 4 million Russian soliders were killed, wounded, or taken as prisoners. -
The March Revolution
Women textile workers in Petrograd led a city wide strike. 200,000 workers swarmed the streets and formed riots over shortages of break and fuel. Soliders were ordered to shoot at the crowd who obyed but later sided with the workers and did not fire. -
The Bolshevik Revolution
Factory workers in Petrograd, also known as Red Guards, took over government offices. They arrested the leaders of the provisional government. Kerenski and his colleauges dissapeared. -
Civil War Rages in Russia
This is the year World War I had finally come to an end. Russia and Germany signed the treaty of Breat Livestock. Russia also surrendered a large part of their territory to Germany and its allies, which triggered anger in many Russians. 14 million Russians dies in this three year stuggle. and in the famine that followed. -
Revolution Results
This was the end of the Russian Civil War. Several western nations and the United States send millitary aid and forces to help out the Russian white army. The red army ended up with the victory. -
Lennin Restores Order
Lennnin resorts to the New Economic Policy (NEP). This allowed peasents to sell excess crops instead of giving them to the government. After this the country slowly recovers. -
Eager for Power
Lennin sufferes a stroke which set motion competition for the head of the Communist Party. This cause Joseph Stalin to climb to the head of the government. Lenin believed Stalin was a dangerous man.
