A group consisting of nobles and army officers attempted to overthrow the Czar. The uprising was crushed, and as punishment the Czar killed five leaders and sent hundreds to Siberia. -

Czar Nicholas Abdicates the Throne
After the March Revolution in which his own soldiers turned on him. Czar Nicholas is forced to abdicate the throne. -
March Revolution
Protesters approached the Czars Palace. The Czar ordered his men to fire at them again. The soldiers refused and this forced Czar Nicholas to Abdicate the throne. -
Russian Civil War Starts
After the Abdication of Czar Nicholas, a provisionary government was established. There were two groups of political views that were the Bolsheviks ( aka socialists) and the mensheviks (aka democracy). These two sides started a civil war over who should be in power. -
Creation of the U.S.S.R.
After the Bolsheviks had won the Civil War, they started the U.S.S.R. or Union Soviet Socialist Republic. Which included Russia and 14 other republics. -
Lenin's Death
Vladmir Lenin was the leader of the Socialists until he died. He understood the teachings of Karl Marx very well. He is now sitting in his casket in his mausoleum.
