The Decembrist Revolt
A small group of nobles and army officers tried to overthrow the government, their goal was to set up a constitutional monarchy. After they did not succeed five leaders were executed and hundreds were exiled to Siberia. All books that contained liberal ideas were banned. -

Nicholas II becomes czar of Russia
Nicholas ll becomes czar of Russia and marries his love. The problem with him marring someone he truly loves is that he only wants to spend time with his family and brushes off his duties as czar. -
The Russo-Japanese War
Russia and Japan fought a war over the control of a region called Mandurian, despite Russia having a larger amount of troops Japan easily won the war. This defeat showed the demining power of Russia and showed the poor organization of leadership of the Russian territory. -
Bloody Sunday
Workers in Russia had been organizing themselves with the goal of more economic quality. Protestors marched to the winter place to present their demands/requests for reform directly to the czar. Nicholas gained the nickname “Bloody Nicholas”, more uprisings, revolts and mutinies were held through the country leading to the Russian Revolution. -
World War I (Russian Involvement)
Russia enterted the war with the largest amount of soldiers, they quickly comprimised much of Germans territory. Although soon the German army started fighting back and were able to push them back to the east. About a month after Russian military leaders started to let their troops retreat from Poland. -
The March Revolution
People wanted more equality in not just their jobs but social standards to, strikes against the government were becoming more powerful. People refused to go to their jobs until the Czar was either stopped or did something to fix their inequality, many riots took place and Nicholas finally enacted the October manifesto. -
Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
Nicholas ll had made many bad decisions in the terms of WWl politically and military, he left his country in the time of most need while it was falling apart politically. He was abdicated from the throne, his whole family, including himself were captured and taken which eventually led to all of their deaths. -
The Russian Civil War begins
It was a civil war between the whites (non-Lenin supporters) trying to get rid of the reds (communists). Whites were cruel to the peasants, while the reds were kinder there d=for earning more of the peasants support. They reds won, they whites were either killed or exiled from Russia. Russia’s economy was now destroyed and agriculture was ruined. -
The creation of the U.S.S.R.
The U.S.S.R. was created so all were equal and so they would no longer have the problem of the Czars being on top while everyone else is strugggling to make a living. All levels of goverment were controlled by the communist party. They grew to become one of the most powerful and influentual states -
Vladimir Lenin’s Death
Before Lenin’s death he warned the Russian people about Stalin but after he died the people disregarded what Lenin said about him and voted for him to be their new leader anyways. Stalin look complete control over Russia and everyone soon regretted their choice but no one dare spoke a word in fear of being killed.
