    A group of Russian nobles killes Rasputin in fear for the sake of the monarchy. But Rasputin was an incredible man for as the nobles led hiim into a castle, they poinsoned him (which did not prove effective), shot him (which did nothing for the fact that he got up and ran), beat him (which finally weakened him) and then finally, his death was announced as they threw him into a freezing river and he drowned.

    Russian Revolution
    The fist Russian Revolution begins with strikes, demonstrations, and mutinies in Petrograd.
  • The Czar abdicates.

    The Czar abdicates.
    Revoltion causes monarchy to collapse and with the advice of military and poltical leaders, the czar steps down. A provisional government is then formed to secure a new future republic.
  • Lenin Returns to Russia!

    Lenin Returns to Russia!
    Lenin returned on a train to Petrograd, from exile and was greeted by fellow exiles and activists that were recently released from the Czar's prisons. There, he adressed a crowd with an applausing speech of triumph.

    As the temporary governement continued, Russia threw an offensive right at Germany's face, resulting in tired, poorly fed, poorly clad and embittered men. The Russians suffered more than 50,000 casualties against Germany and Austrian-Hungary armies.

    As chaos continued across the lands of Russia, Lenin and the Bolsheviks made their move to overthrow the trembling provisional government. In a matter of days, the government was theirs.

    The Bolsheviks seek peace with Germany; they have their own revolution to worry about.

    Solves their problems with Germany by signing the of Brest-Litovsk. Though this had a downside to it, for Russia gave up a huge chunk of land and population to them. The communist leaders knew this of course, but they worried more about thier own country.

    On this day, the Bolshevik party changed their name to Communist. Going from Bolshevism to Communism.

    A new Civil War begins between the Reds and Whites. While this happens, Allies intervene and the czar and czarina along with their five children are murdered by the secret police forced supplied by the Reds.

    Russia is left in chaos at this time and Lenin is faced with rebuilding a nation and its economy after the Communists defeated their enemies.

    The economy had come close to a collapse but nothing was impossible for these Russians. They made the New Economic Policy that allowed capitalist ventures to exist. Like say, Peasants were allowed to keep small plots of land and sell their crops with this.

    The Communists produced a constitution at this time that seemed both democratic and socialist to the people. It set up a legislature and gave people citizens 18 and over, the right to vote. This led to union as a country.
  • Lenin's Death

    Lenin's Death
    Lenin dies, just a few days earlier and people line up in the Red Square to witniss the preservation of his body that would be there for more than 65 years.

    At this time, Stalin and Trotsky jockeyed for Lenin's spot as leader. Trotsky went all out with his opinions, unlike Stalin who took a more causious route. Which inevitably led to his reign.

    Stalin made the Five Year Plan that aimed at building heavy industry, improved transportation and increasing farm output. This included the making of a command economy in which government officials made all basic economic decisions.

    Trotsky flees the country after being cunned out and isolated within the Political Party. Stripped of his membership, he takes the only way out.

    Stalin lashes out with his reign of terror (the Great Purge). He takes his secret police force and goes after Old Bolshevicks and activists from the early days. He must only have his new followers who understand him.

    Between this time and 1998, Stalin ensures a new event called 'show trials' in Moscow. They are public outings where many citizens confess their crimes after being tortured or threatened by or threats being thrown at their families.
