Chechyna is a muslim region in southern russia and it claimed independence from Russia after the breakup of the Soviet Union (former of Russian empire). Joseph Stalin (leader of Russia) resettled people of Chechnya in the east. -
Independence
Chechnya declared independence when the Soviet Union(former of russian empire) broke. All they wanted was peace towards their country. -
The Agreement
Chechen and Ingush leaders signed an agreement splitting the joint Chechen- ingush republic in two. Ingush joined with the Russian Federation and Chechnya stays independent. -
First Chechen War
Both Russia and Chechnya Resulted in War. The first Chechen war started. It was proved to be an unorganized mission by Russian Troops. The first Chechen war began because of a debate over independence between Russians and Chechens. -

Ending of First Chechen War
The first war ended ,and a peace treaty was signed for Chechnya and russia to get along. After the war Russia messed up The Chechen economy. Before, they had a really good economy. At one time the Chechen was one of the richest oil producing regions. -
Second Chechen War
It was the start of the Second Chechen War. Russian troops returned to chechnya. Chechens had bombed Russia a number of times.Over 300 lives were taken when the Chechens bombed Russia.In September and October, Russia had many bombings on the Chechens. -
Guerilla war
In the spring, the Chechen militants declared a Guerrilla War( gang war against the government) which is still going on today. They had seized the republic and had committed mass Human Rights Violations. -
Chechinization Policy
2002:Chechenization policy launched, its objectivewas to lawfully make Akhmed Kadyrov’s (chief of the chechen republic) pro-Russian team gain power and gradually transfer it to the republic. -
New constitution
The new constitution of the republic was passeddefining Chechnya as an inseparable part of Russia. -
Prime Minister of Chechyna
Baseyev (prime minister of Chechnya) was killed after being a tourist, being the head of the chechen rebels, and attacking a school in Beslan (town in Russia) and killed 331 people. -
Ending terroism
In April, Russia ended its terrorism process. In August 1, 2009 Akhmed Zakayev called for a stop to armed opposition against the chechen police force. -
