Punic Wars
Rome goes to war with Carthage over trade and power over the Mediterranean. After multiple wars Rome defeats Carthage, and annexes their territory. This is the first time Rome controls land outside of Italy and begins its climb to power. -

Fall of Western Roman Empire
Rome conquers more than it can control, runs out of resources and begins to power. Following the decline outsider nomads attack Rome. Destroy the aqueducts and sack the city of Rome, ending the reign of the eastern Roman Empire. -

Begining of Rome
Two brothers who descended from a Trojan prince are raise by a she wolf and are the founders Rome. Romulus and Remus fight over where the city will be located. Romulus kills Remus and becomes the first king of Rome. -

Fall of Eastern Rome
After surviving for more than 1000 years after the fall of Western Rome the Ottoman Empire sacks Constantinople. The remaining people in Constantinople put up a fight and survived a 2-month siege, but were overtaken in 1453 BCE. Prior to the sacking of the capital the Ottomans dilapidated the empire’s power by conquering its provinces. -
Assassination of Julius Caesar
The senators begin to fear he would get rid of senate and was becoming too powerful. So a group of senators lead by Brutus stab him to death. Octavian become the next emperor and has the murders hunted and killed. -

Rome becomes Imperial
In 47 BCE Julius Caesar becomes dictator for life and before his death chooses Octavian to be his heir. This action ends the republic state of Rome, instead Rome becomes an empire. With Octavian he solidifies the end of the Republic by slowly making changes to the government, lowering power of the senate, and kill those who disagree with him. -
Rise to power of Julius Caesar
After one of the three triumvirates dies in combat, Julius Caesar and his victorious legions return to Rome to defeat Pompey’s army for control of Rome. After a few years of civil war Caesar and his armies defeat Pompey and Caesar is appointed dictator for life. -
Year of Four Emperors
After the death of Nero four of Rome’s most successful generals fought over power of Rome. This was one of the bloodiest civil wars in Rome’s history. This war was won by Vespasian, and he became the emperor. -
Building of the Coliseum
After Vespasian defeated the Jewish and plundered their city he used their wealth and labor to build a giant gladiator arena the Colosseum. The Colsseum was Vespasian’s greatest achievement, and it helped silence to poor people because it was a place to appease them. -

Roman Republic
After over throwing the Etruscan Kings that had ruled Rome for the last couple hundred years, Rome formed a republic. This was a system of government with a senate that represented the people’s wishes in government. There was also consul and triumvirates so decisions could be made quickly. If a serious event occurred like a war one of the consuls would be put in position as a 6 month dictator.
