Hitler's Troops march into the Rhineland
On this day, Hitler took a great risk and sent his unnarmed troops to remilitarize the Rhineland. He gave orders that if French troops offered ressistance by shooting at them, they were to retreat.
This never happened and Garmany once again had militar power over the territory -
Hitler's meeting with Schuschnigg
Hitler had a meeting with Schuschnigg where he shouted and bullied him for about 2 hours, forcing him to accept his terms and make Austria part of Germany.
Even though he accepted, he later did a plebicite to avoid it. -
Austrian Plebiscite
In order to preserve Austrian Independence, Schuschnigg calls for a plebiscite with the lowest voting age set to 24 (since young people supported or were nazis).
In counter-responce to this hitler sent his troops and invaded Austria, Great Britain did nothing to stop him. -
German Troops invade Austria
German troops invade Austria after hearing about the plebiscite, and find no ressistance since that was what Schuschnigg ordered.
They are recieved by cheering crowds wich supported them. -
Hitler's meeting with Chamberlain at Berchtesgaden
This day, Chamberlain, prime minister of Great Britain and Mussolini had a meeting at Berchtesgaden where Hitler gave his word that he wouldn't invade any more european territory.
Chamberlain left dissapointed, Hitler didnt accept the proposal and invaded Czechoslovakia by force. -
Munich Conference
Hitler agreeded to have another conference with Chamberlain where they would come to an agreement in wich Hitler would keep Czechoslovakia. -
Hitler invades Czechoslovakia
German Troops invade Czechoslovakia and find no ressistance because of the effects of the treaty.
The Czech president, Benes, is sent to exile. -
WW II Begins
After Hitler didnt keep what he said at the Munich conference and continued invading Poland, Great Britain and France took counter-actions. And so World War II began.
