  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War
    The rivalry between the Indians & the French was mainly because of the France's expansion. There was a river that kind of crossed in between and the Indians used those water routes as a resource to like travel over by canoe etc and also they used that as well for battles etc. When the French came the started to expand and came across the same thing and the Indians didn't like that and that's kind of how everything started .
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Basically the proclamation was made to make sure the colonists don't travel west. Also if you wanted to trade or something you had to have a special license to confirm that as well. The proclamation set up rules and regulations that the colonists had to follow so there won't be any confrontation with other regions etc.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The sugar act was mainly about the manufacture of molasses which was a highly lucrative product. Heavy taxes on sugar from the West Indies to the American colonies in an attempt to force colonists to purchase the more costly sugar from Britian. Also this was the first instances in which colonists wanted to say how much they were taxed.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The stamp act was passed by the British parliament. New tax was imposed to all Americans and that required that they had to sign every single piece of paper they used. Like legal documents, ship papers, licenses etc. The money that was collected for the stamp act was used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American Frontier near the Appalachian Mt.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This was introduced into the English parliament. Townshend act imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into colonies. They hoped that the acts would defray imperial expenses in the colonies, but most Americans viewed it as abuse of power. So this resulted into the passage of agreements to limit imports from Britian.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    This was an pre- Revloutionary incident growing of the anger against British troops. They were sent to Boston to maintain order and enforce the Townshend Acts. The troops, constantly tormented by irresponsible gangs, that one day fired into a rioting crowd and killed 5 men. The captain was sent to jail for murder.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    They wanted to sale tea to the East Indian Company and lowered the prices over there because they were doing so well. The American colonists disagreed with this. So they came up with the " taxation without representation" came along so that meant they couldn't buy tea from anyone else without spending more of their money.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Basically this is a protest against taxation again. While consignees in Charleston, New York, and Philadelphia rejected tea shipments and merchants in Boston that night Dec. 16 Samuel Adams boarded three ships and threw chests overboard. This rialed things up pushing the two sides closer to war.
  • Intolerable Act

    Intolerable Act
    The government spent immense sums of money on troops and equipment in an attempt to subjugate Massachuttes. British merchants lost huge sums of money, spoiled, and destroyed goods to shipped to colonies. Therefore there was a course set up leading the governor to evacuate the occupying army from Boston.
  • Deceleration of Independence

    This was an armed conflict between bands of American colonies and British soldiers. Americans were ostensibly fighting fort heir right as subjects of the British crown. The issue had grown into war but congress had to face the issue and vote on it. Congress formally adopted the Decleration of Independence on July 4, a date now celebrated as the birth of American Independence.
