The Townshend Acts were a seris of four acts passed by Charles Townshend and the Parliament. -
Soldiers Arive in The Colonies
British Soldiers arrived in Boton and throught the other Colonies. This lead to widespred conflict eventually leading to he Boston Massacre. There were one doldier for every five citizens in Boston. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was an event of great turmoil in the colonies. One soldier was knocked down by the mob, the others fired in self defence. Later John Adams would defend the soldiers in court. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Sons of Liberty dumped tea in to the Boston Harbor. They did this because Britian put a tax on tea, this was done as an act of defience. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were made to punish the Colonies, for no following the laws. The acts included; The Boston Port Act, The Massachusetts Government Act, Quartering Act, The Quebec Act. -
The first Continental Congress
The delagates, voted for by the people met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia to discuss the British laws. Georgia was the only Colony not to have a delagate. -
The Second Continental Congress
The delagates of the First Continental Congress agreed to meet again if their needs were not met. So they ended up returning, this time the main goal was to begin to work toward independance. They were also focused on the revolutioary effort. They elected George Washington as leader of the Continental Army. -
Lexington and Concord
The British soldiers were going to Concord to take weapons from the Colonists, however Paul Revere and other riders were able to get there first and warn the Colonists. The British were forced to retreat back to Boston. This was the first battle of the revolutionary war. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
The British defeated the Colonies, however the Colonies significantly wounded the enemy. There were major British casualties. -
The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
Benedict Arnold raised an army to attack the British fort. When he realised Ethan Allen, and his troops were also attacking the fort they worked together to siege it. They were able to catch the British by suprise, and take the fort.
