French & Indian War
A war between French and indians v.s. Britain because they both said they owned a state. It was a seven year war and had more deaths then the American Revolution. -
Proclamation of 1763
King George lll declared all land west of the appralachian divide off-limits to colonial settlers. It affected 13 colonies. It started after the French and Indian war. -
Sugar Act
British Empire were in dept from the seven year war. It was the first internal taxi directly on American colonists by British government. The colonists thought it was unconstitutional so they resorted to violence to the tax collectors. -
Stamp Act
Passed by Britain's government. The colonies didn't want to pay without representation. They formed rally's against the British government. -
Townshend Act
Imposed things imported int the colonies. The colonies saw this as a abuse of power. It was hoped that it would defray imperial expenses into the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers came to support a sentry. 3 people were killed, 2 died later from wounds. A man of black or Indian parentage named Crispus Attucks was a victim. Thomas Preason a British officer was changed for mans laughter. -
Tea Act
The British government let the East Indian company import sale of tea in the colonies. Colonists never accepted this. They boarded the ships & dumpt their loads of tea overboard. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists protested against taxation. So they threw out loads of tea on the ships. The British inflicted to harsher penalties. -
Intolerable Act
Passed by British. They saw the destruction of the tea and no one admitted it so they punished the colonists. -
Declaration of Independence
The Americans were fighting for their rights. A committee including Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin drafted a formal statement for the colonies. The document was made by Thomas Jeffernson.
