Proclamation Line
The Proclamation Line borders the Appalacian Mountains. A royal decree was issued that stated the prohibition of the North American colonists from establishing lands west of the appalacian mountains where the imaginary line is located. The line acknowledged that the Indians owned the land where they were then living and that the white settlers were to be removed. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was a modified version of the Sugar and Molasses Act. It wasw initiated by George Grenville's plan to place tariffs on colonial imports.It placed a tax on sugar. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act put a tax on newspaper and commercial and legal documents. Many people thought the act was unfair. People that paid the tax, received an official stamp on their documents. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts were acts passed by the parliament of Great Britain relating to the British colonies in North America. The acts are named after Charles Townshend who proposed the act. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre lead to the deaths of 5 people. British soldiers fired at a group of British colonials. They were throwing snowballs and other things at the soldiers. -
Tea Act
Merchants in Boston, bought tea that had been smuggled into the colonies by Dutch traders. The act gave the East India Company rights to export tea to the colonies and they didn't have to pay any export tax. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists boarded vessels in Boston harbor and threw the cargoes of tea into the water. They did that as a form of protest because of the tax on tea. The British Parliament created the tax.
