Magna Carta
The barons of medieval England and King John signed the Magna Carta. Property could not be seized and got rid of most taexs for noblemen and freemen. -
Mayflower Compact
The purpose was so that the pilgrims didnt want to listen to the kings rules so they created their own. -

English Bill of Rights
William and Mary siged the Bill of Rights. The monarch no longer has power to over ride laws, and protestants are now allowed to speak freely. -
Albany Plan of Union
Benjamin Franklinsuggested this plan, but it never happened. The popular cartoon that was associated with this was the Join or Die snake. -

French and Indian War
Britian and France were involved. Some bajor battles include Fort necessity, battle of Quebec and the battle of Louisburg. The British won the war. -
Stamp Act
Paper that was printed were all taxed. The colonial leaders boycotted this act. -
Boston Massacre
5 people were killed there. The British were enforcing unpopular taxes passed by parlament which was the cause of the massacre. -
Intolerable Acts
King George III wanted to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party so he made these acts. The Boston ports were closed and troops were allowed to stay in peoples homes. -
Lexington and Concord
250 British were killed and/or wounded. This started the war. The major generals were Francis Smith, John Parker and James Barrett. Paul Revere warned the colonists about the British coming. -

First Continental Congress
Peyton Randolph, Henry Middleton and Charles Thomas were all involved. The articles of association were made at this meeting. The meeting was held at Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia. -
Boston Tea Party
The sons of Liberty organized this. The British made the Intoleable acts which closed the ports. -
Second Continental Congress
It took place at the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia. Major ideas from this are that the Continental Army would be created and so would the olive brance petiton. -
