    The CC put off talking about slavery for 20 years.

  • The Cotton GIn

    The cotton Gin makes slavery more popular, because of the new demand for cotton.

  • Tariff Wars

    More friction between the north and the south.

  • The War of 1812

    The south wanted a war to get more land, and the north was afraid of losing good trades. This started some friction

  • The Missouri Compromise

    The compromise made Missouri a slave state, and Maine a free state.

  • Underground Railroad

    Slaves being taken out of slavery, and brought to freedom.

  • Nat Turner

    Turner protested slavery by slaughtering white people. There was even more friction after this.

  • The US annexes Texas

    This brings up a debate, about whether or not it is a slave state.

    The Americans won the war, which ended with a trade for California. California was very controversial in the beginning

    The compromise added a fugitive slave act
    banned slave trade in D.C
    Utah, and New Mexico became states, and were allowed popular sovereignity
    Cal. was allowed to be a free state

  • The attack on Fort Sumner

    After Lincoln was elected the south was mad, so they seceded. the created their own country, and they started to take over forts. When they took over Fort Sumner the Civil war began.
