France and Britain wanted Canada and other spaces in North America which is why they fought. Britain eventually won in 1763. This boundary ran from north to south along the Appalachian Mountains. Any land west of the boundary was reserved for Native Americans. This helped lead to the American Revolution because it was decreed at the end of the French and Indian War, so the French were stll angry about the war, so they helped the colonists in the revolution.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
Stamp Act The Stamp Act was created in 1765 and taxed all American colonists. It taxed the colonists on everything with paper. This included newspapers, licenses, and legal documents. The money collected funded troops along the Appalachian border. This helped lead to the American Revolution because the colonists revolted partly because the British were taxing them too much and the Stamp Act was a tax.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
Townshend ActsThe Townshend Acts were laws that set import taxes on British goods. These included lead, glass, and paint. The money from these acts went to pay Royal officials or maintain British troops. • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
Boston MassacreThe Boston Massacre occured on March 5th, 1770. The Boston Massacre was the killing of colonists, (five to be specific), by British troops. The colonists were angered by the troops arrival, so they protested a little bit violently. This led to the war because these colonists revolted because of taxes and the war was partly about taxes and how the British were being unfair.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
Tea Act The Tea Act of 1773 was when the British made the East Indian Company the only company the colonists could buy tea from. The reason they did this was because the East Indian Company needed some more business. This led to the war because the colonists saw this as "taxation without representation," which meant that the colonists could not vote for parliament in London that passed the tax laws. "Taxation without representation" was a main part of the war.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
Boston Tea Party The Boston Tea Party was when many colonists heard of a delivery of tea. The colonists, some dressed as Native Americans, poured all of the imported tea into the harbor. • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
Intolerable ActsThe Intolerable Acts were aimed to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. There were five Intolerable Acts that were all passed in 1774. This led to the war because it was the result of the Boston Tea Party which was to rebel against "taxation without represetnation." This saying led to the war.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
Lexington and ConcordThe Battle of Lexington was when 700 British troops were marching to Concord. However, 70 American militia troops stood in there way. The first shot was fired and the battle started. The British then moved on to Concord and killed many colonists and patriots. These led to the American Revolution because the Battle of Lexington was the first battle of the American Revolution and Concord was not long after it.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
Declaration of Independence The Declaration of Independence was a document that was signed on August 2nd, 1776. Only John Hancock signed it on July 4th.
