Proclamation of 1763
This Proclamation of 1763 halted colonial progress westward so as to quell fighting. This act made the Appalachian Mountains the farthest any settler could go. It angered many colonists, especially those with land shares west of the Appalachian. -
Sugar Act of 1764
This made colonists pay 3 pence per gallon of imported mollasses/sugar and some other products. This angered the colonists because it raise dprices for them. -
Currency act of 1764
This act gave Britain control over America currency. It gave them the exclusive right to distribute and moniter the American Currency. This enraged the colonists because they believed no only that they had the right to their own currency, but that Britain was unfair in its rulings against America. -
Stamp Act of 1765
This act made all paper in the colonies require a British Stamp to approve it; the stamp would cost money. This angered the colonists because not only were they paying for their paper, but they were paying to the British Goverment, not their own. -
Quartering Act of 1765
This law made all villages/cities responsible for the basic needs of the soldiers stationed within it. This further anger colonists because they did not want to have to pay for British soldiers. The picture is a drawing about the Quartering ACt of 1765. -
Stamp Act of Congress
This was a meeting of the American Congress to disucss the Stamp Act of 1765. This was during protests and violence by the people who were enraged by the Stamp Act of 1765 -
Declaratory Act of 1766
The declaration stated that Parliment's authority wa the same in America as it was in Britain. The colonists did not like the idea of Britain asserting its power even more, so they got angry because of this. A quote is the official title, "An Act for the better securing the dependency of His Majesty's dominions in America upon the Crown and Parliament of Great Britain". -
Townsend Act of 1767
This act raised money for Britain to pay for judges and officials so that they are more partial to British rule in the colonies. It was actually multiple acts, the Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act.
