Sugar Act

This includes a number of acts aimed at raising revenue to pay for the French and Indian War debts. This also include measures to increase the efficiency of the American custom system. The Sugar Act was the most objectionable.

Stamp Act

Prime Minister Gorege Grenville stated that paying taxes was intended for the colonies to pay for defense. This meant tax stamps on many items and documents including playing cards, newspapers, and marriage licenses

Virginia Resolution

Patrick Henery beings to assert the right that only Virginia has the right to tax itself.

Townshend Act

This act introduced a number of external taxes including duties on paper, glass, and tea.To ensure enforcement in America additional infrastructure was set up.

Boston Massacre

Mar 5, 1770

Boston Massacre occurs killing five colonist and injuring six. This is used as propaganda piece against the British military. No one knoew why it is called the Boston Massacre when only five people died and six ingured.
