In 1757 William Pitt became prime minister of the British government. Pitt decided to send more trained British troops to fight in North America. His 2 goals were: 1. To open the Ohio River Valley and 2. Conquer French Canada

    France removed itself from the New World. England controls the land from the coast to the Mississippi River. King George III issued the Proclamation.

    Realizing that they were badly outnumbered, the Minutemen were about to break.
    An unknown shot was fired and both sides engaged.
    When the smoke cleared, 8 minutemen lay dead. Few weapons were found in Lexington.
    A contingency of 120 British troops marched on to Concord and the home of Retired Colonel Barrett's farm.
