  • French and Indian War

    The French and British go to war, they both have Native Americans on their side. The British win.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    King George III issued a law that forbade anyone to cross the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    The British put taxes on sugar.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    The British put a tax on the colonies. This tax was put on paper, stamps, glass, and ink.
  • Townshend Acts

    Even more taxes were placed, this time it was placed on imported goods.
  • The Boston Massacre

    Many people began to tease the Redcoats, angered by the taxes. they began shouting and throwing sticks. The soldier cried for help, and the Redcoats fired shots into the crowd. Seven were killed.
  • Tea Act

    The Brits continue to add even more taxes. This time, it was on tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Fed up with the ridiculous taxes, a group called the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Native Americans and boarded the ship docked at the Boston Harbor. There, they threw all the tea overboard.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The British were NOT happy about the Boston Tea Party. As punishment, they closed the harbor, cancelled charters, and standing an unfair trail in Great Britain if a crime has been committed.
  • The 1st Continental Congress

    Delegates from the 13 colonies met together except Georgia. They sent a letter to the king explaining their loyalty, but asking the British to stop taxing them. The king refused, and then the colonies ceased all imports from the British.
