    End of the French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war is ended with George Washington at the helm of the Colonial Army. This war leaves Great Britain in emense amounts of debt leading to a need for taxation.

    The stamp act passed taxed all paper based products which affected every colonist from high class to low working class. This Act was written by Parliament and was enforced in America. This angered colonists but also united the upper and lower middle class because all were affected by this act.
  • Tea Act Passed

    Tea Act Passed
    The Tea Act taxed all tea products and for many colonists was the last straw. This led to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The colonists grew angry with the declaration of the Tea Act and so many colonists dressed up as Native Americans, charged British ships, and dumped all the tea they could find into the harbor.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    This is one of the intolerable acts and declared that all ports of Boston would be closed by British ships and trade would not be allowed. This was in response to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Quartering Act

    This act, another member of the Intolerable acts, this act stated that all colonists must allow British forces to stay in their homes and the colonists must provide for them.

    This was a meeting of the delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies. At this meeting the topic of the intolerable acts was discussed and indepence was briefly addressed, though it was shot down by many at this hearing.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These battles were the original fights between the British and Colonial troops and this is where the colonists first used guerilla warfare, which definitely gave them the upper hand in the fighting.

    Benjamin Franklin was appointed to be the delegate for Pennsylvania in the Second Continental Congress. Here it was unanymously decided to declare independance to Britain.

    George Washington is appointed General of the Continental Army. He is a great leader and even won the Battle of Saratoga, which was thought to be a sure-fire win for the British, but caused the alliance of French and Colonial forces.

    At the battle of Bunker Hill, the colonists were running drastically low on ammunition and supplies which this is where the famous quote, "don't shoot till you see the whites of their eyes," came from. The colonists were able to secure this victory.

    Thomas Paine was an incredible writer and even after his participation in the Revolutionary War, he went on to write for other countries as propaganda. He wrote Common Sense as one such form of propaganda.

    Thomas Jefferson was a founding father and a great writer. With these tallents it was decided that he would be the author of the Declaration of Independance.

    The battle of Treton was a decisive victory for the colonists as they sprung at midnight after Christmas and were able to kill or capture numerous Hessian troops.

    Battle of Saratoga
    This battle was believed to be a sure-fire win for the British but instead, through great leadership and determination, George Washington led the colonial forces to victory. This later caused an alliance with France.
  • Benedict Arnold

    Benedict Arnold
    After valliant war efforts for the Colonial Militia and very little credit being bestowed, Benedict Arnold grew very frustrated with how he was being missused, and began secret actions with the British. He eventually defected to the British all together.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The last major battle of the Revolutionary War, the British forces were beaten drastically by a combination of Colonial and French troops. Lord Cornwallis was forced to surrender to the two armies, essentially ending the American Revolution.
