  • French and Indian War

The French had help during the war from Spain and indians that they befriended. Yet, the British won nearly every battle. In 1763, the war ended at a peace conference with the British gaining Florida and Canada. It lead to the American Revolution because after the war, it allowed the Americans to expand across the Mississippi.

To keep the colonist from moving westward, they signed the royal Proclamation of 1763, which was a line that the colonist could not expand across. This line was primarily the Appalation Mountians. If any colonists were to cross this line, they had to deal with one or both of two things, the British or the indians. This affected the American Revolution because colonists could not expand westward.

The British taxed the colonists for their own purposes: they were in debt after the Seven Years' War. This definitly affected the American Revolution. The colonists began to rebel against the act by forming mobs and attacking the British. This would be the beginning of many different and important rebellions and dates in the American history.

The acts imposed on duties for glass, tea, lead, paints, and paper. There were though, many problems not only for the colonists, but the British were affected by this as well. There were numorous rebellions and in April, 1770, the Townshend act ended. This caused a lot of commotion in the colonies and made them even more angry.

It got heckic rapidly and Thomas ordered his men to fire. Three men were killed immediately and two others died of wounds. Thomas and his men were arrested after the massacre for manslaughter. This affected the Revoluton because the colonist were protecting what they had that the British had taken away and the colonist were furious about it.

This act was much like the townshend act, mostly because the British were still in debt after the Seven Years' War. This, like all the other laws and acts passed, enraged the colonists and gave them even more of a reason to rebel. This certain act will lead to one of the most well known rebellions of the War, the Boston Tea Party.

A group of Massachusetts Patriots protested on the American tea importation. They threw 342 chests of tea, worth millions, into the harbor on a midnight raid on three ships. This rebellion made the colonist anxious for more, making a giant impact on the British and played a huge part in the American Revolution.

The British thought these acts would separate Boston and New England off from the rest of the colonies, instead, it brought them even closer. In September of 1774, the First Continental Congress met in Philidelphia and began planning for the American Revolution.
  • Lexington and Concord

The day before at night, hundreds of British soldiers marched to Concord to destroy an arms cache. When news came of this, Paul Revere made his historic ride to warn the militia about the attack. The British soon retreated under heavy fire at Lexington.

After many battles between the colonists and the British, the colonial government adopted this document. We celebrate this holiday ever year on the Fourth of July. This definitly changed the American Revolution because it gave the soldiers and the colonists that feel of freedom and the courage to stand up against the British to gain their independence.
