Proclamation of 1763
This proclamation said that colonists could not go past the appalacian mountains and that fur traders could only go if got royal permission. -

Stamp Act of 1765
The Stamp Act placed a tax on things like playing cards, diplomas, newspapers and ads. These products needed to have a stamp that said it paid the tax. -
Quatering Act
The Quatering Act said that the colonists had to house and supply the british troops in the colonies and the colonists did not like sharing their home with unliked soldiers. -
Declatory Act
The Declatory act said that Parliament had full power and authority and they have the right to make laws for America. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts placed dutires on foreign materals like lead, glass, tea and dyes. The British then made writs of assistance to enforce these acts. -
Boston Massacre
On March 5th, 1770, an angry mob formed and started to insult and throw things at the british soldiers.A soldier either slipped or his gun went off and the british soldiers fired on the colonists. 3 colonists were dead when it ended. -
Tea Act
This act helped the almost bankrupt East India Company make money because they did not need to pay certain duties and they could charge the lowest prices even after the consumer paid the tax. -
Boston Tea Party
A group of colonists dressed up as Indians and went onto the tea ships in Boston Harbor and dumped all of the tea. -
1st Continental Congress
This was a convention where delegates from the colonies could speak their thoughts. They came up with the Declaration of Resolves -
Coercive Acts
Also known as the Intolerable Acts, they were four acts to punish Massachusetts and Boston and to gain control over the colonies. First they had to pay for all the destroyed tea so the harbor could be reopened. Second england revoked the charter of 1691. Third it allowed royal officials to be tried in other colonies or in England. Fourth is that local officials had to provide housing and food to soldiers. -
Quebec Act
This act moved Quebec's boundaries to the Ohio River and gave full religious freedom to French Roman Catholics. -
Battles of Lexington/Concord
Also known as the shot heard around the world was when the local militia waited for the british soldiers on the lexington green and then after they marched to concord the patriots fought the marching soldiers from behind stone walls and trees. -
2nd Continental Congress
On May 10 the 2nd Continental congress met and agreed to make an Army led by George Washington to protect American Liberty -
Olive Branch Petition
This Petition states that the Colonies are loyal to the crown and they want help to end the conflict. The king did not accept it and the war continued. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence said the misdeeds of the king and said that they were independent now. Thomas Jefferson was the writer of Declaration.
