United State's "doors"
The US had tightened its admissions policy during the 1920s and had kept its doors virtully shut through the depression of the 1930s. (in 1938 it planned to admit only about 27,000 immigrants from Germany and Austria). -
Wolrdwide depression
The world-wide depression had made things even worse -

Germany's first concentration camp, Dachau was opened near Munich. It was run by Hitler's Schutzstaffeln, an ellite protection and security service known as the SS. -

Boycott
Hitler ordered a nationwide boycott of all jewish-owned businesses to have signs saying "don't buy from Jews".
Nazi storm troopers blocked the entrances to Jewsih-owned stores, medical offices and law firms. -
