The Chancellor Deal
Hitler didn't want anyone else as chancellor, other than himself. Hitler had one supporter, politician Franz Von Papen. Papen believed that carefully chosen advisors could maybe curb Hitler’s radicalness while using the voting power of the NSDAP. -
Reichstag Fire
This fire led to Hitler gaining more power, as this fire was formed in a parliament in Berlin, so Hitler was able to get more power from that. -
The Enabling Act
This allowed Hitler to better govern without reference to the reichstag -
Hindenburg's death
President Hindenburg died and Hitler assumed control of the government. The new leader was known as the fuehrer and would act as head of state, government, and armed forces -
Rearmament
Hitler reintroduces the draft and by 1939 has more than 900,000 soldiers, 8,000 aircraft and 95 warships. -
Anschluss-austrian takeover
Germans took over Austria and joined Austria and Germany under one government. Austria voted for independence but Hitler claimed it was rigged and he told them to either relinquish power or face invasion. -
Czechoslovakia and the Munich Agreement
Germany, Italy, and France's leaders meet and "agreed" and approved nazi takeover of Sudetenland
