    Ruling Israel was crucial to Rome because it meant they could switch freely between the continents it bordered. Rome did not want to start a war so they made a compromise were Israel would be able to keep their religion as long as they paid taxes to Rome and kept peace. Rome's expansion was quick and dangerous as they kept growing stronger and bigger. Jewish people were defined by there practices and worship which was crucial to Romes's decision to compromise.

    Jesus of Nazareth

    The Jesus of Nazareth was a religious leader who had a deep regard for Christianity. Many believed that he was the incarnation of God because of his teachings and nature. One of the religions he taught was Judaism as a Jewish preacher. Jesus of Nazareth is important because he is the center of Christianity itself as he was the human incarnation of the one God who spread the religion and story.

    Paul of Tarsus

    Paul of Tarsus was an important Christian leader so much so that some people say that he was right under Jesus in importance. Growing up he practiced his Christianity and working with trade he also learned writing letters wit his own hand. He also believed that Jesus was never raised after his death because he thought god would not put Jesus over the earth. Paul of Tarsus was important because he wrote letters about humans and the divine that where very crucial to modern day Christianity.

    Great Fire of Rome
    The Great Fire of Rome was a roman fire that was believed to be started by the Emperor Nero who wanted to rebuild Rome for his liking. Nero blamed the Christians for this as they where frowned upon in the society. Christians posed a threat to the roman society and religion which was one of the reasons they where prosecuted. Nero had Christians burnt or thrown to beasts because they where "traitors" for not worshiping multiple gods.

    Perpetua

    Perpetua
    Perpetua was a martyr which is a person who is killed for what they believe religiously. Her full name was Viba Perpetua and she was one of the 5 Christians that where executed on that day. She was said she was okay with dying because god will choose her place. Two days before the execution she gave birth and she was still okay with dying which brought up a new concept. The concept was if people where willing to die for their religion then Christianity must have been something to look at.

    The Great Persecution of 303
    The reign of Emperor Diocletian brought many persecutions of Christians along with The Great Persecution of 303. This event was lead by Diocletian and his partner Galerius and it was a persecution of several thousand Christians. Diocletian did this event in hopes of reuniting the Roman empire. Through this the religion stayed alive and triumphed. This is an important event because it showed that people where willing to die for the religion which kept Christianity alive.

    Battle of Milvian Bridge

    Battle of Milvian Bridge
    Rivals, Constantine and Maxentius fought to control Rome in 312. Constantine went into a battle where he was by large the under dog but by the power of his beliefs he was able to defeat Maxentius. This battle was crucial for the religion because if Constantine had lost then the religion would be put in a closet and not let out. From that battle on he became the sole ruler of Rome, and according to history he looked up in the battle and there was a cross in the air, a symbol of victory.

    Constantine the Great

    Christianity was growing but it was not supported by an important person with power until Constantine the Great. Constantine brought Christianity into light as he legalized it and promoted new churches. This legalization was called the Edict of Milan which made Christianity legal and also removed all restrictions on Christian worship. In all, Constantine the great helped stop the persecutions to the Christians and then brought the religion into a spotlight

    Edict of Milan
    This Edict of Milan was created by Constantine and Licinus. The Edict allowed Christian religion to start churches to further enhance the idea of Christianity. Constantine and Licinus ended up taking back the Edict of Milan as they began a conflict over control of the Roman empire. This Edict is important because it started a movement of the religion. Christianity started making a turn in Rome for the better, after the edict they where no longer slaves to the other religious beliefs

    Emperor Theodosius

    Emperor Theodosius was known to be the last emperor Rome and during that time he was a very important figure in Christianity. He Created the Edict of Thessalonica which made Christianity the main religion of Rome. With this Edict it allowed Christians to persecute others somewhat like the earlier times of Rome. He was important to Rome because he ended the roman emperor phase but, he is even more important to Christianity because he made it triumph through Rome as the main religion.
