Richard the Lionhearted Birth
Richard the Lionhearted was born on eighth of September, 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford. He became the son of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He also became a brother to John the King of England, Henry the young King, Geoffrey II, Eleanor of England, Alix of France, Joan of England, William Longespee, Matilda of England, Marie of France, William IX, and Geoffrey. -

Richard the Lionhearted becomes King
When the Forces of Richard and Philip came together and defeated Henrys army at Ballans, Henry agreed to name Richard his heir apparent. When Henry II later died, two days after his death, Richard was able to succeed him as King of England. Richard also sets out with Phillip of France on the Third Crusade. -

Richard the Lionhearted starts palnning
On the 12th of December,1189, Richard the Lionhearted starts planning for his crusade that is coming soon. He starts selling mansions and castles to raise money in order to get the resources he needs. He soon said "If I could have found a buyer I would have sold London itself". Referring to how much money he needed and how hewas loosing and gaining land. -

Richard the Lionhearted captures and the Battle of Arsuf
Richard the Lionhearted captured the city of Acre, Palestine, and defeats Saladin at Arsuf. During the battle of Arsuf, Richards crusaders defeated Saladins army but Saladin still conquered much of the Holy Land (including Jerusalem) and held it to himself until Richard agreed to sign an agreement (talked about in this time line as well). -

Richard the Lionhearted Married
On May 12th, 1191 Richard Married Queen Berengaria of Navarre who was the first born daughter of King Sancho VI of Navarre at Limassol. Richard the Lionhearted and Queen Berengaria did not have any children. -
Aug 2, 1192
Richard the Lionhearted agrees
The Third Crusade was an attempt by European Leaders to tae the Holy Land from Saladin. After all of the conflict and fighting, Richard finally reaches an agreement with Saladin the guarantee Christians safe pilgrimage to Jerusalem. On September 2nd, 1192, Richard and Saladin finalized the treaty which granted Muslim control over Jerusalem but it allowed Christian merchants to visit the city. -
Apr 6, 1199
Richard the Lionhearted has died
Richard the Lionhearted was killed on April 6th, 1199 at the age of 41 while besiding the castle at Chalus in France. He was shot by a crossbow bolt that went into his shoulder. The throne was then passed to his brother John who reigned from 1199 (after Richards death) until 1216 (when he died)
