    A British general sent redcoats to Concord because he believed that the colonists were storing weapons. The colonists had spies and found out the troops were moving so Paul Revere and others rode to warn the towns. This resulted in minutemen blocking the road, leading to 18 colonist casualties.

    It was the opening phase of the American Revolutionary War. In the siege, an American patriot militia led by George Washington prevented the British Army from moving by land.

    The Battle of New York was the Revolutionary War's biggest battle. The devastating defeat for the Americans allowed Britain to hold the valuable port until the end of the war.
