  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Colonist could not settle west of the Appalachian mountains. They still continued to move went and violated the proclamation.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    They used this to try and split taxing on foreign made molasses, hoping that it would lower tax. Prosecutors still took foreign made molasses into colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act required colonist to get a special stamp paper for every legal document. Samuel Adams founded the Sons of Liberty. They harassed workers and stamp agents. 9 colonies met in New York City to have congress pass a declaration of rights and grievances. This meaning that Parliament had no power to tax the colonies.
  • Repeal of Stamp Act

    Repeal of Stamp Act
    During this time Parliament repealed the stamp act to make the Declaratory Act.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    During the Boston Massacre there was competition for jobs between colonist and paid soldiers poorly. Crispus Attucks caused an armed clash. Samuel Adams and other activist called the clash the Boston Massacre. They said it was a defenseless attack on citizens.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Tea Act was passed for struggling tea companies. Then the Boston Tea Party Indians had 18,000 lbs of the East India Company's tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Act was passed because of the Boston tea party, it shut down the Boston harbor. The quartering act made Britain house soldiers in private homes. Thomas Gage kept peace by placing Boston under martial law. Colonist quickly got together and made the First Continental Congress.
  • Delegates Meeting

    56 delegates meet up in Philly for the Declaration of colonial rights, stated that if British used force against colonist that the colonist should fight back
  • Battle of Bunker

    Battle of Bunker
    Colonist led by Putnam occupy hill, 1500 soldiers attacked in 3 assaults. ran out of ammo, Americans have the victory.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Gage sends troops to stop the use illegal weapons. Paul revere gets word about redcoats marching on concord. bloody retreat of British soldiers
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    British was defeated by american and french forces. This was the last big battle of the war. Leads to British defeat in the Revolutionary war.
