  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was passed to tax colonists to make up for the debt of the French and Indian War. It said that there would be a tax on all sugar in the 13 Colonies. The colonists were most likely upset because they had to pay tax on sugar.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed to replace the Sugar Act. The act put tax on stamps that were required for sending out letters. The tax was meant to help get the king out of debt.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed to protect colonial interests. It said that in order for King George III to protect the colonial interest, British Soldiers were sent to the colonies. Local government of the 13 Colonies would provide the British Soldiers more housing and food.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    This act was passed to put an end to the smuggling of goods. Colonists were unhappy with British taxation. The act was meant to raise tax in the colonies to pay the salaries of governors and judges so that they would remain loyal to Great Britain.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act was passed to save East India from bankruptcy by granting them a monopoly on tea sales in the colonies. The colonists were most likely angry about this because they could only get their tea from England. The tea was exported from the kingdom to any British Colonies.
  • Intolerable Acts- The Boston Port Act

    Intolerable Acts- The Boston Port Act
    The Boston Port Act was designed to punish the citizens of Boston by closing the Port of Boston until the money for the tea had been paid. No ships were allowed to go into the Boston Harbor. The colonists were angry that they were being punished for doing what they thought was right.

    Intolerable Acts- MA Government Act
    The Intolerable Acts were passed by the British Parliament because Britain wanted to restore order and take over Massachusetts. It gave the governor more power and gave the royals a lot more control. If I were a colonist, I would be angry because they were being deprived of control.
  • Intolerable Acts- Quebec Act

    Intolerable Acts- Quebec Act
    The Quebec Act guaranteed the right for Quebec to keep their Catholic faith. It also extended the territory of Quebec into the land that was claimed by the 13 Original Colonies. It said that all territories, islands, and countries in North America would become a part of Quebec.
