Through the Enlightenment, leaders studied about limited government, seperation of power, and social contract. -
French and Indian War
After the war, Britian was in great debt and so King George III demanded more money from the colonies. Also, King George kept a standing army to "protect" the colonies. -
Sugar Act
This act raised prices on sugar that was imported from the West Indies. -
Stamp Act
This act required taxes on things such as marriage licenses and playing card to help pay for millitary purposes. -
Tea Act
This was the taxation of tea in the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers and colony citizens had an unfair violent dispute and it was used to make the British look bad. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonist dumped tea from a few different ships into the boston harbor. -
Shot Heard Round the World
No one knows who shot first, but it started the war. It happens in Lexington/Concord when the Britian tried to take citizens' gun.
