  • Treaty of Paris of 1763

    Treaty of Paris of 1763
    Ended French and Indian War. The British won. France had no more power in North America. It was divided between Great Britain and Spain. Mississippi river marking the boundary.

  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    They made the Appalachian Mountains the temporary western boundary for the colonies. The British began moving into Indian territory in western Pennsylvania. The Indians still traded with the British even though they considered them enemies. The British raised prices and refused to pay for the use of Indian land.

  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Placed a tax on almost all printed material in the colonies like newspaper, pamphlets, wills, and even playing cards. ALL of the printed material had to have a stamp applied by British officials. Colonists were mad that they ignored self-goveremnt. Samuel Adams help start sons of liberty to protest the stamp act. Colonist boycotted and merchants started losing money. repealed the stamp act but passed the Declaratory act.

    A law that parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for all British colonies "IN ALL CASES" They were taxed without representation.

    The colonies couldn’t handle being taxed within the colonies. They were applied to imported goods and paid at the port (glass, tea, paper, and lead).   • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A fight broke out between the soldiers and colonist, they threw sticks and stones at the soldiers one of the soldiers were knocked down and they started firing. They killed 5 colonist including Cripus Attucks. The colonist used it as propaganda and they boycotted even more goods.

  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    British East India Company was going out of business so Parliament passed the tea act. They act allowed the company t bypass colonial merchants and sell directly to shopkeepers at a low price. The act gave the company an advantage over colonial merchants. The colonists thought it was another way to control them.

    Sons of Liberty dressed up as Indians. They sneaked onto the ships in the middle of the night and threw 342 chests of tea overboard

    It was a way to punish Boston. They Closed the Boston harbor and kept food and supplies from being delivered to Boston, banned town meetings, allow British officers to be tried in other colonies or in Britain when accused of crimes, forced colonist to house or quarter soldiers in their homes.They Planned to isolate Boston.Other colonies supported them by sending them things they need

  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    They realized they need to work together met in Philadelphia to disuss problems with Britain. Major political leaders from the colonies attended.Drafted a staement of complaints asking paliament to repeal 13 acts. No British products could be brought into or consumed in the colonies.No colonial goods could be shipped to Britain. One of the congress most important decisions was to begin forming militias

  • Midnight Ride

    Midnight Ride
    Paul Revere, Wentworth Cheswell, and William Dawes rode to Lexington to warn Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and the militiamen the British were coming. They moved most of the ammunition but the British destroyed the rest.

  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    70 militiamen waited for them with muskets out of 70 of them 8 died. The Militia was made out of Farmers,blacksmiths,saddle ixers, and clerks. When they reached Concord the gun power was moved. British soldiers destroyed the rest of it. When they got to "Old North Bridge" more militiamen were waiting. 174 redcoat were wounded and 73 dead.

  • 2nd Continental Congress

    2nd Continental Congress
    Declared independence from Britain was a long way off. Unanimously chose George Washington to be the army’s commander.Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson. John and Samuel Adams, Patrick henry, Richard Henry Lee, and George Washington; delegates on the first Continental Congress.
